Subcontracted repair

Your part entrusted to an approved shop.

We choose the approved shop, manage the work on your behalf and track the lead time. You keep the decision on the quote and visibility on progress.

Part-145

approved shops only

0

work without your approval

Online

continuous TAT tracking

Diagnosis first, quote next. Nothing is repaired without your approval.

How it works

From the part leaving you to its certified return

You follow every status change from your customer area, without having to chase us.

  1. Step 1

    You declare the part

P/N, serial number and observed symptom. A few minutes online.

  2. Step 2

The part goes to the shop

You choose to ship it yourself or to have us arrange the transport. In both cases the outbound transport is at your cost and risk, then the part comes under the shop’s custody.

  3. Step 3

    The shop assesses

Disassembly and diagnosis. You receive a priced quote, with the detail of the parts concerned.

  4. Step 4

    You approve online

One click in your customer area. The announced lead time is counted from the dispatch of the part to the shop.

  5. Step 5

    Return with certificate

The part comes back with its release document, ready to install.

Two formulas

Fixed price or time spent

Fixed price (FPR)

Firm price

The amount covers the standard repair scope, whatever the extent of the work found within that scope.

Suited to parts whose failure modes are known and recurring. Operations outside the standard scope are invoiced on top.

Time & materials (T&M)

At cost

You only pay for the labor and parts actually used. Often cheaper when the fault turns out to be minor.

Preferable when the actual extent of the work remains uncertain before disassembly.

Our commitments

What we commit to

Manage the work on your behalf, without ever deciding in your place.

  • The lead time is announced at intake and counted from the dispatch of the part. It is shown in your customer area with its status: on time, at risk, or overdue. You see it coming without having to chase us.
  • No work without written approval. The quote reaches you with the detail of the parts concerned. As long as you have not approved it, no repair is started.
  • We entrust your part to a Part-145 approved shop, never to ourselves. KRISTAL is a distributor, not a maintenance organization. We act as ordering party on your behalf, with a shop whose approval covers your part number.
  • The part comes back with its release document. Certificate validation is tracked part by part and visible in your customer area.

Full transparency

What may extend the lead time

Repair depends on a third party and on the actual condition of the part. Three situations can shift the announced date.

Part declared beyond repair

If the shop concludes the part is Beyond Repair, the findings are communicated to you and the decision is yours: scrap, or replacement with a part from the catalog.

Manufacturer shortage

Some spare parts are allocated. We give you the supplier date as soon as we get it, and look for an alternative in parallel.

Export control

A part of American origin under ITAR or EAR regulation goes through an export control validation before shipment. Allow a few business hours.

The outbound and return transport, assessment, quotation, disassembly, reassembly and certification costs are at your expense, like any operation outside the standard repair scope. They appear on the quote before you approve.
